Houston is putting the final pieces on a star-studded 2026 recruiting class and just added a key piece to the offensive blueprint.
Former Arkansas commitment Jaivion Martin has declared for the Cougars after returning back to campus this weekend for the showdown with Texas Tech — another in-state contender previously vying for his signature.
Willie Fritz, Slade Nagle and this Houston offensive staff have been working toward flipping Martin leading into and since his senior season at Willis (Texas) High got underway before the fireworks this weekend.
“Houston is a great program. Coach Fritz and the chance to play in Coach Nagle’s offense is exciting, especially with what they’re doing with their tight ends,” Martin told Rivals. “I’m excited to play in this environment I was in this weekend. There’s nothing like those big-game atmospheres.”
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound pass-catcher is the Rivals Industry Ranking No. 28 TE in the 2026 class.
The Cougars believe “Skoop” Martin will be a nice piece in this top-35 haul.
“Honestly, they just never gave up,” he said of Houston. “Any time they had the ability to reach out to me and my family, they did. They just kept on loving on me and that let me know that it was real genuine love, and that’s what I’m looking for. I want to be part of a family that no matter what, never gives up on me because I’m never giving up on them.”
“Houston is a great program and having the chance to be a part of greatness isn’t just my goal; it’s an honor,” the 3-star TE added. “I’m excited about what the future holds.”
That optimism is contagious around Houston’s 2026 class.
