Huntsville Havoc start training camp

Havoc head coach Stuart Stefan says it was exciting to be back on the ice with the team.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Huntsville Havoc started training camp Tuesday morning at the Huntsville Ice Sports Center.

The team practiced for just over two hours, primarily focusing on fundamentals and laying the groundwork for this year’s team.

Huntsville is looking to bounce back after finishing in second during the SPHL regular season a year ago, but being bounced in the first round of the playoffs.

Havoc head coach Stuart Stefan says it was exciting to be back on the ice with the team.

“First day went pretty well, again excited to get back on the ice, a little bit shorthanded right now, but I think the guys worked really hard today,” Stefan said. “Obviously saw a lot of nerves out there too, but the one thing that I really like is just kind of the attitude, really good attitude, guys were working hard.”

The Havoc will get three more training camp practices before they take on the Pensacola Ice Flyers in an exhibition game on Saturday. The team starts the regular season on the road against the Roanoke Railyard Dawgs on Oct. 17.
