Tuesday, October 7

Boys Soccer

Aurora 4, Barberton 0

Cam Gentille had two goals and an assist in the first half alone as the Greenmen made their Suburban American title outright.

Ravenna 4, Coventry 3

Ravenna’s Kael Jordan and Southeast’s Dylan Dorsey during a soccer match in Ravenna on Aug. 15.

The Ravens won a thrilling MAC Tournament seventh-place game as freshman Kael Jordan headed home Jack Rainone's corner kick for the game-winning goal with roughly two minutes remaining.

Seniors Jose Carpenter, Preston Hatcher and Jason Hawkins also scored for Ravenna.

Lake Center 4, Crestwood 0

Senior Macauley Baker and junior Trevor Hayberg had two goals apiece to lead the Tigers to victory.

Freshman Oliver Baker had the nine-save shutout in net for Lake Center.

Volleyball

Southeast def. Liberty, 25-19, 25-14, 25-18

Neena Truex had 23 assists and four aces and Leila Evans had 12 kills as the Pirates swept their Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference clash with the Leopards.

Reyna Ripley added six kills for Southeast while Elise Kennedy had four aces.

Rootstown def. Wickliffe, 25-16, 19-25, 25-20, 25-10

Colbie Curall had 11 kills, Addie Biggin had 23 digs and Kylie Shelly had double-digit assists (12) and digs (10) as the Rovers prevailed in four sets.

Sophia Byers (eight kills, six digs, five aces), Olivia O'Neill (15 assists, seven digs) and Ella Hayn (eight digs, seven aces, six kills) also had big games for Rootstown (10-11, 3-5 Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division).

Monday, October 6

Boys Golf

Division III Tannenhauf District

Mogadore nabbed the third and final team qualifying spot out of the Tannenhauf district tournament with a score of 346, five strokes ahead of fourth-place Brookfield.

Senior Tyler Pendergast led Mogadore with an 80, including two birdies on his final four holes. Junior Max Shannon added an 85, while senior Jude Thiry (90) and sophomore Max Simone (91) rounded out the scoring.
