Compiled by the Louisville Courier-Journal, the Kentucky media poll is the result of votes by 16 media members. Here are the results ahead of Week 8.
The latest Kentucky high school football statewide media poll has arrived ahead of crucial upcoming battles as Northern Kentucky teams dive into district play.
Two historic rivalries take the spotlight this week, when Newport Central Catholic takes on Newport for the annual battle for the Newport Fireman's Bell, while Bellevue and Dayton play their 152nd game against each other, their first at Dayton’s new on-campus stadium. Their first meeting was in 1926, making next year the 100th anniversary of the series. Also, Highlands crosses the river and goes to a historic stadium, The Pit at Elder, to take on one of Ohio’s best teams, the Elder Panthers.
Here are the complete polls ahead of Week 8. The polls are the result of the votes of 16 media members throughout the Bluegrass, including James Weber and Brendan Connelly of the Enquirer. Jason Frakes of the Louisville Courier-Journal compiled the polls.
First-place votes are in parentheses and local teams are in bold, along with poll points and last week's ranking.
