German women's national team coach Christian Wück is not happy with the amount of playing time his players are getting in the Bundesliga and abroad.
Wück told reporters at the German Football Federation (DFB) campus that "the development in this important area is too slow for my liking.
"Playing time is definitely not high. Some national team players don't play enough at their clubs, not only in the women's Bundesliga, but also abroad," he said.
These players include midfielder Sjoeke Nüsken at Chelsea and Sydney Lohmann at Manchester City.
Wück said that at this summer's Euros in Switzerland he had "four players who didn't even play 50% of their league matches. And an additional six who had a maximum 75% of the possible minutes.
"You can explain such figures at junior national team level but we are talking about the senior women's national team," Wück said.
Another example is full back Franziska Klett, who wasn't a regular starter at Bayern Munich but was still picked for the Euros and had her breakthrough there.
Wück said that a joint effort is needed with the Bundesliga where he is happy that the quality of play and the intensity has risen lately.
"We can only do this together. We need to find ways to give our players playing time. We need coaches who have the courage to bring in young players and give them time," Wück said.
Germany reached the semi-finals at the Euros. The next games are the Nations League semi-finals against France on October 24 and 28. Wück will announce his squad on Tuesday.
