Joao Palhinha has opened up about his struggles at Bayern Munich in the previous campaign.
Palhinha arrived at Munich from Fulham on a four-year deal in the summer of 2024. Despite adding the Bundesliga title to his list of achievements in his debut season at Bayern, the 30-year-old could not enjoy an eventful term at the club.
During a training session with the national team in November last year, the Portuguese star tore a muscle bundle that led him to miss 14 matches for club and country, followed by being sidelined for another three games for Bayern in February.
Palhinha's absence due to injuries and competition in Bayern's squad limited his on-pitch involvement at the German side, making only 25 appearances across competitions last campaign.
Back in August, Palhinha arrived at Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent for €30m, a move he claims to be 'a happy moment' in his life.
While speaking to A Bola, during a press conference ahead of Portugal's upcoming matches against Ireland and Hungary, Palhinha explained his hardships at Munich, mentioning that he believes he did not 'get the opportunities' he 'deserved,' and said,

"Last season wasn't easy for me, especially when I got injured with the national team. I was out longer than expected. Afterwards, I didn't get the opportunities I think I deserved. The moment with the national team depends a lot on what we live at our club," as per GOAL.
"Now I'm going through a happy moment in my life. A new club, a new project. A league that isn't new to me and that I'm enjoying again. Football and life are very momentary. I just have to enjoy these moments."
Palhinha also spoke about his return to the Premier League and how it is helping him to regain his confidence and form at Tottenham.
What did Bayern loanee Palhinha say about his loan tenure at Tottenham?
Palhinha credited Tottenham and their head coach, Thomas Frank, for helping him 'show again' what he is 'capable of,' and added,
"I've simply been having the opportunities I didn't have in the past. I feel total confidence from the people who wanted to bring me to Tottenham. In this case, the coach, who was the main person responsible for my return to England."
"When we feel wanted somewhere, I think that's where we should be. So I made this decision very easily, honestly. Not only because it's the Premier League, but because I felt the desire from the other side to work with me. And that's what's helping me show again what I'm capable of."
Palhinha has started in eight out of the 11 appearances he has made for Tottenham so far, during which he has netted three goals.
It remains to be seen if the Sporting CP graduate is able to increase his goal contributions in Spurs' next Premier League clash against Aston Villa on October 19.
