Notts County have reappointed Richard Montague as the League Two club's director of football.

The 39-year-old returns to Meadow Lane less than a month after departing the same job at Swansea City and will replace Roberto Gagliardi who left last month.

Montague spent nearly six years with Notts before joining the Swans in February but his stay was ended after seven months following a club review of "football operations".

Owners Chris and Alex Reedtz said Montague's role will be "slightly broader" than his previous remit as executive director.

"While recruitment will once again be one of his key responsibilities, Richard will now be more involved in the day-to-day operations of the football department and will once again become a key figure of support to the coaching team," they said in a joint statement.

Montague said he was "incredibly excited and grateful to be back at Notts" and was returning with "fresh ideas, experiences and contacts".

He returns to the club with the Magpies 10th in League Two, one point outside the top seven.
