LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Lafayette Generals have slowly been rebuilding under Jon Lawson. Coming off their first winning record and home playoff game since 2016, the Generals are looking to take that next step against their biggest rival, the Henry Clay Blue Devils.

“We know what it takes to win games that we’ve got the fruits of our labors at this point. So, they know what they need to do in practice and prepare. And as long as they’re prepared mentally and physically for the games, we are also always going to have a good opportunity to win and also compete,” Lafayette head football coach Jon Lawson said.
While the generals have dominated the matchup in recent years, they aren’t letting the past season get in the way of this game and their goals for the rest of the season.
“Especially after last week with East Jessamine, we’re just going to run off momentum, play fast and aggressively. This group, we’ve never won districts or anything. So, we really just want that trophy more than anything,” Junior safety and wide receiver Jackson Grantz said.
The Generals and Blue Devils are scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10.
