Bill Belichick broke his silence about the future at North Carolina. 

The UNC Tar Heels head coach released a statement on Wednesday night saying, "I'm fully committed to UNC Football and the program we're building here." This comes after a report surfaced about Belichick and school officials discussing an exit strategy in Chapel Hill.

UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham followed that up with a statement of his own. "Coach Belichick has the full support of the Department of Athletics and the University," he said. 

The 73-year-old coach’s college stint hasn't gone to plan, leaving many to believe what his next move might be. There has been growing turmoil within the program, including the fallout from Saturday's 38-10 loss to Clemson. The Tar Heels rank 128th nationally in scoring offense and have scored over 14 points in a game only once this season.

Belichick spent 24 seasons with the New England Patriots, winning six Super Bowls during his legendary NFL tenure. But none of that has translated to his time at UNC. He acknowledged the need for changes after the Clemson loss. 

“It’s a lack of concentration,” Belichick said. “And part of that is coaching, too, so I’ll take my share of the responsibility." 

The saga of "Big Bill" continues to roll on for the Tar Heels, who will look to improve on the 2-3 record after the bye week.
