The five best games to watch during Week 7 of the 2025 college football season.
Week 6 of the 2025 college football season featured an avalanche of unexpected results. While Miami took care of Florida State and Alabama defeated Vanderbilt in the biggest games of the week, and while the Oklahoma Soonerswere shutting out the Kent State Golden Flashes, there were three huge upsets that made this past weekend one to remember.
With UCLA beating Penn State, Florida beating Texas, and Cincinnati beating Iowa State, the table is set for a Week 7 that features almost too many great matchups to count. This weekend will have one of the most loaded slates of the season so far, with great games from start to finish.
With Oklahoma's annual bout with Texas always taking center stage at the State Fair of Texas, the Sooners are hoping to stay undefeated against a Longhorns team that is licking its wounds after a tough loss. However, OU-Texas is just one of the many important contests this week. Here are the top five games to watch in Week 7.
1. Oklahoma vs. Texas, 2:30 p.m. CT
The Red River Rivalry is arguably one of the biggest and best rivalries in all of sports, and it's renewed again on Saturday. The annual neutral-site matchup at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas pits Oklahoma and Texas against each other for the latest edition of a game that is always a big part of the college football calendar.
Quarterback questions surround the 2025 Red River contest. For the Sooners, will they have John Mateer back from his hand surgery, or will Michael Hawkins Jr. make his second straight start of the season, and his second straight start in this rivalry game? For the Longhorns, they're trying to figure out what the problems are with Arch Manning and why he hasn't lived up to all of the hype yet.
Brent Venables and Steve Sarkisian are two of the best in the business on the defensive and offensive sides of the ball, respectively. However, this game could turn into a low-scoring battle, given how good both teams are on defense and how many things both offenses still have to figure out. With the fans split 50-50 down the middle, will it be an undefeated OU team staying that way for one more week, or will the two-loss 'Horns start to turn things around beginning with this game?
2. Indiana at Oregon, 2:30 p.m. CT
The Hoosiers and the Ducks were both College Football Playoff participants last season, but both went one-and-done in the CFP. Indiana dodged most of the Big Ten's elite teams last year, but it gets a big chance to prove itself on the road in Eugene against Oregon.
Curt Cignetti and Dan Lanning certainly aren't afraid to talk the talk, and they have their teams walking the walk again in 2025. They also have two of the best QBs in college football right now in Indiana's Fernando Mendoza and Oregon's Dante Moore. The Hoosiers are looking to contend for a spot in the Big Ten title game, while the Ducks want to defend their title as conference champions. This should be a great game with plenty of points scored.
3. Alabama at Missouri, 11:00 a.m. CT
Alabama and Missouri have looked like two of the SEC's best teams so far in 2025. After a rough Week 1 loss against Florida State, the Crimson Tide have looked lights out since. Back-to-back wins over Georgia and Vanderbilt have Kalen DeBoer and 'Bama riding high.
For the Tigers, they're undefeated so far this year, but this will be by far their biggest test of the season. Eliah Drinkwitz and Mizzou were dominated in Tuscaloosa in this matchup last year, but this time the game is in Columbia. With a manageable schedule the rest of the way, if the Tigers can't get by the Tide, they could be in trouble in the playoff picture.
4. Ohio State at Illinois, 11:00 a.m. CT
Ohio State beat Texas in Week 1, and they've handled slight tests in the Big Ten over the last couple of weeks. However, it could be argued that Illinois is the best team the Buckeyes have faced all year. Ryan Day and the defending champs will go on the road to Champaign to play in what will certainly be a hostile environment.
Bret Bielema and the Fighting Illini suffered a humbling loss to Indiana, but then notched a big win over USC. With everything that's happening in the Big Ten this year, it feels like there isn't a clear hierarchy within the conference just yet. Despite this not being the league's biggest game this week, we'll still learn a lot from it.
5. Arizona State at Utah, 9:15 p.m. CT
The biggest game in the Big 12 this week sees Arizona State take on Utah, after the Sun Devils upset the Utes last year. The Big 12 continues to be wide-open in 2025, and both of these teams suffered early losses that put the spotlight on other teams. However, both programs are lying in wait for more chaos within the conference, and this game will go a long way towards deciding the league's title game matchup.
This game could be decided by which quarterback finds his rhythm. ASU's Sam Leavitt is a playmaker that can make a real difference when he's on point. Utah's Devon Dampier has helped elevate this offense since transferring in from New Mexico. His also a playmaker that can change a game in a hurry. It may not be the Pac-12 After Dark anymore, but it can feel like it, at least for one more night.
