Bengals injury updates: Ja'Marr Chase questionable ahead of trip to play Green Bay Packers

Whether or not newly acquired Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco will have Ja'Marr Chase to throw to this weekend remains an open question.

Whether or not newly acquired Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Flacco will have Ja'Marr Chase to throw to this weekend remains an open question.

Flacco, acquired midweek via trade from the Cleveland Browns, will start at quarterback for the Bengals (2-3) at the Green Bay Packers as the club looks to right its season after three straight losses in the absence of injured quarterback Joe Burrow. But the Bengals could be missing several key players, including Chase.

Chase would be designated as questionable for the game (illness), Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said. Chase participated in the Oct. 10 walk-through and was sent home.

Chase so far in 2025 has 32 catches for 372 yards and three touchdowns through five games.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase (1) warms-up before facing the Detroit Lions at Paycor Stadium on October 5, 2025.

Dylan Fairchild, Dalton Risner updates for the Bengals

With rookie left guard Dylan Fairchild expected to be listed as questionable Oct. 10 ahead of the trip to Green Bay due to a knee injury, Dalton Risner is available to fill in for Fairchild if he can't go this weekend.

The knee injury kept Fairchild out of practice Oct. 9 and Risner was getting reps at left guard during the Oct. 10 period of Bengals practice open to media members.

The latest on Shemar Stewart's ankle injury

Rookie edge rusher Shemar Stewart has missed three games due to an ankle injury and was listed as "limited" for the Oct. 9 practice session, and Taylor said he's expected to be doubtful for Green Bay.

Overall, Stewart is viewed as progressing toward returning, Taylor indicated.

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Shemar Stewart (97) walks for the injury tent in the fourth quarter of the NFL Week 2 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Jacksonville Jaguars at Paycor Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025. The Bengals came back from a halftime deficit to win 31-27.

"It's good to get him back on the field this week and see where it's at," Taylor said. "We'll see where it ends up on Sunday but it was good to get him out there physically going. I thought every day he looked better."

Stewart suffered an ankle injury in Week 2 after a solid debut against the Cleveland Browns in the opening week of the year.
