Two years ago, Iowa freshman Koen Entringer went viral for his hustle on punt coverage against Michigan in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Since that moment, Entringer’s leadership has continued to grow. In 2025, Entringer has been a captain for all of Iowa’s games.
He is currently fourth on the team with 26 tackles and also has two pass break ups. He led Iowa in tackles against Indiana with 10.
While Entringer has had to wait his turn to make a constant impact on the field, he is making the most of his opportunity.
“Just trying to be the best teammate I can be. You know, being voted by my teammates is a tremendous honor, and I just try and lead by example,” Entringer said. “I just think that’s what I try and do yeah. It’s easy to be a rah-rah guy and say things and be a guy, ya know, who says this, but I always just try to lead by action and just try and lead the pack with my actions. (Kirk Ferentz) told us to write down some goals at the beginning of the season and during the bye week I definitely, ya know, revised those goals, rewatched all the games we played and, ya know, I think the biggest thing is just how can you improve practice to practice, day to day, and week to week.”
Entringer and the Hawkeyes kick off against Wisconsin on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
