Chelsea have joined Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the race for Koln star Said El Mala according to reports.

The Blues were once again busy in the summer as they made six first team signings, five of which were attackers as the frontline underwent a major revamp.

As has been the case under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake ownership, Chelsea are desperate to sign the best young talent from around the world, and have particularly targeted South America.

The summer window may have closed at the start of September, but with January just a few months away, transfers rumours are starting to circulate again.

What business Chelsea do in January is unclear, but according to German publication Absolute Fussball the Blues have joined German giants Bayern and Dortmund in the race for El Mala.

El Mala has only broken into the Bundesliga this season and is under contract with Koln until 2030, but has become one of the most talked about youngsters in Europe.

The 19-year-old left winger has two goals and an assist in seven appearances in all competitions, and would reportedly cost €50m, but crucially for Koln he doesn’t have a release clause in his contract.

Chelsea already have a plethora of options in the wides areas, but that hasn’t stopped them wanting to sign the best talents, and it will be interesting to see how El Mala develops, and if the Blues decide to make a move in the upcoming transfer windows.

Geovany Quenda to arrive next summer

Chelsea already have four wingers in their squad, and have a fifth arriving next summer in the form of Geovany Quenda.

Chelsea agreed a deal with Sporting for Quenda earlier this year, and part of the deal was he’d remain with the Portuguese giants this season.

If Quenda stays fit then he’ll arrive at Chelsea having played more than 100 games for Sporting and have Champions League experience, so he’ll be ready to go into the squad and challenge for minutes straight away.
