KENT — The Kent State Golden Flashes return to Dix Stadium today to face Massachusetts in the Mid-American Conference college football game. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m.
The Flashes (1-4, 0-1) have lost four straight games since beating Merrimack 21-17 in their season opener on Aug. 30. Massachusetts (0-5, 0-1) has lost nine straight dating back to a 35-7 win over Wagner last season.

Kent State hoping to get starting quarterback Dru DeShields back
Kent State quarterback Dru DeShields sat out last week's game against Oklahoma with a tweak in his hamstring. Interim head coach Mark Carney said earlier in the week the former West Branch High School quarterback was day-to-day.
DeShields split time at quarterback in the Flashes' first two games and became the full-time starter in the MAC opener against Buffalo. He threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 37 yards and a TD in Kent State's 31-28 loss to the Bulls.
Kent State's Gavin Garcia closing in on 1,000 rushing yards
Flashes running back Gavin Garcia is just 62 rushing shy of 1,000 for his career.
Garcia returned this year after missing the entire 2024 season with an injury. He led Kent State in rushing in 2023.
Kent State looking to end MAC, homecoming droughts
The Flashes are looking for their first MAC win since Nov. 26, 2022 when they beat Buffalo 30-27. Their last homecoming win also came in 2022 against Akron.
