On March 30, 2024, Rice — driving a Lamborghini Urus — was caught in a six-car accident in Dallas. He was driving 119 mph at the time of the crash. Four other vehicles were damaged in the collision, including a Corvette Rice was leasing.

Dashcam footage of the collision showed occupants of the vehicles leaving the scene on foot. On April 10, 2024, the Dallas Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Rice and announced he was charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving seriously bodily harm and six counts of collision involving injuries.

Rice turned himself in the next day. He pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony charges. In July 2025, Rice was sentenced to five years probation and 30 days in jail.

On Aug. 27, the NFL announced a six-game suspension for Rice for violating the league's personal conduct policy. He was permitted to return to Kansas City's practice facility on Sept. 22.

Two other people involved in the crash had to be transported to the hospital for their injuries. Police reports also showed that the Lamborghini had nearly 11 grams of marijuana in it.

On April 10, 2024, police issued an arrest warrant for Rice and announced that he had been charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injuries. The driver of the Corvette was also identified and faced the same charges.
