Kylian Mbappé speaks out about Cristiano Ronaldo

The international break was abruptly cut short for Kylian Mbappé. Suffering from a right ankle injury since his arrival at Clairefontaine, the Real Madrid striker was forced to leave the French national team camp overnight from Friday to Saturday, after taking another knock during the victory over Azerbaijan (3-0). As a precaution, he will not take part in the trip to Iceland scheduled for Monday, with the staff unwilling to take any risks just weeks before crucial fixtures for both Les Bleus and his club.

Off the pitch, Mbappé took advantage of his media appearance to talk about one of his greatest influences: Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Cristiano Ronaldo has always been my role model, an example for me," he told Movistar.

"I'm lucky to talk to him, he gives me advice, he helps me... He's number one." The French striker also recalled the legacy left by the Portuguese star in Madrid: "He remains the ultimate reference at Real Madrid. People still dream about and talk about Cristiano today."
