Eric Allen was honored with a Hall of Fame plaque at Allegiant Stadium prior to the Raiders week 6 game.
Sunday, prior to the Raiders Week six game against the Tennessee Titans at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Eric Allen received another honor. Back in August, the Raider legend was inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Which means he will counted among the long list of Raider legends to be inducted. All of whom also receive a plaque on the walls of Allegiant Stadium.
For Allen, it was a matter of walking down the hall. He has worked for the Raiders as an on air talent. He calls his new plaque "another feather in his cap" as the former 14-year pro stood between his Hall of Fame bust and his new plaque, which was located nearby fellow recent Raiders inductees Cliff Branch, Richard Seymour, and Charles Woodson.
"When we first got here it was COVID, so there was no one here," Allen said. "We would do our show, there was no fans, we'd walk around and I would look at all those guys I looked up to because as you know the Raiders were one of my teams when I was younger. Walking by, seeing Freddy B's name and of course Marcus Allen and I just hoped that the time would come that I'd be able to have my jersey here and now that it's here and...it's really cool to have this spot in the stadium."
Allen spent the final four years of his career in Oakland with the Raiders, adding 15 interceptions to his career total of 54 picks. He credits his time working in Raiders' strict man cover defense as putting him over the top and earning him his place in Canton and now on the walls of Allegiant Stadium.
