The were thrown a curveball ahead of their Week 6 game against the on Sunday night, as left tackle Josh Simmons was unexpectedly ruled out.
Simmons was added to the injury report on Sunday afternoon due to a personal issue, and he was later ruled inactive when the team dropped its list an hour and a half before kickoff.
This is the second straight week in which Simmons was a gameday addition to the injury report after he was added last Monday because of an illness before suiting up.

Why Josh Simmons was ruled out
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Simmons had a family emergency back in California that forced him to miss the game versus Detroit. The exact details of the family emergency remain unknown.
"Chiefs OT Josh Simmons is listed as questionable for tonight against the Lions, is dealing with a family matter back home in California, per me and Mike Garafolo," Rapoport reported before Simmons was ultimately ruled out.
The Chiefs now have two options to replace Simmons in Wanya Morris and Jaylon Moore, both of whom are listed as the top backup tackles on the left and right side, respectively.
Unfortunately for the Chiefs, both will be a downgrade from Simmons, which is bad news for a matchup against a Lions team that had the second-most sacks in the NFL going into Week 6.
Detroit sports Aidan Hutchinson, whose five sacks were ranked in the top five in the NFL going into Sunday.
