20 golfers one step closer to realizing Tour dream

It's something every golfer dreams about the moment they pick up a club.

FRENCH LICK, Ind (WEHT) – It’s something every golfer dreams about the moment they pick up a club. What would it be like to play on the PGA Tour?

20 golfers just got one step closer to realizing those dreams in southern Indiana.

That is the challenge at the Pete Dye Course in French Lick. Over 100 golfers compete all year long to earn their spot in the big leagues, and for some, it all comes down to the Korn Ferry Tour Championship.

But all that anticipation, all that dedication builds to something greater.

“I think this is just a realization of a dream to compete at the highest level against the best competition. We are really excited, and I can’t wait to be there,” said Johnny Keefer.

There is the PGA Tour, the pinnacle of golf where 20 new faces will now be competing against the Scheffler’s, the McIlroy’s and the Schaufele’s of the world.

And one of the best parts of Sunday’s championship round in southern Indiana is that dream is realized for golfers all across the world.

Nine countries were represented by the 20 golfers who punched their Tour cards.

The best of them all this weekend was Chandler Blanchet. Blanchet shot a 6 under, 66 round to take home the championship in front of his whole family.

“It’s the dream of all of us. I think anyone you ask you want to have your family there. You want to have that experience of walking up the green and they are greeting you. It’s really awesome,” he said. I feel like I have worked on this for 20 plus years and been grinding as a professional for 8 years, and it’s all kind of coming together this year to a really exciting and really good year. I’m excited to put my game to the test next year.”
