Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has given his verdict on whether it was worth getting sent off vs Liverpool or not.

The Blues last game they played was against Liverpool last weekend before this latest international break kicked in, and it was most certainly a good game to be leaving for the break with. Chelsea won 2-1 of course with a late winning goal by Estevao Willian.

Enzo Maresca was seen going wild running down the touchline to join in the celebrations with the players and the Chelsea fans after the last minute winner, which for me is just a natural part of celebrations in football and emotions in any person involved in the game. But Maresca was then given his second yellow card of the game for doing this and subsequently sent off.

The Blues boss though, says it was all worth it!

Speaking on stage at the Festival dello Sport, Maresca explained why he felt quite so excited after the late winner against Chelsea, and joked that his sending off was ‘worth it’.

“It’s a great feeling. This is my second season at the club, but we’d never won in the last minute at home before,” Maresca said. “The reaction that led to the sending off was instinctive, but maybe it was worth it.

“We’re talking about one of the biggest clubs in the world, one that has struggled in recent years for various reasons.

“When I first signed, I felt the pressure of being the only Italian not to have won here (in Italy), but fortunately it hasn’t gone that way. Bringing this club back to the top is a very satisfying feeling.”
