Keys to the Bills grabbing a win in Week 6 vs. the Falcons on Monday.
The Buffalo Bills are looking to get back in the win column against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6.
The Bills (4-1) visit the Falcons (2-2) this upcoming weekend. It's a "Monday Night Football" affair at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
As cross-conference foes, these two square do not square off often. How can Buffalo get the upper hand in this one?
Here are Bills Wire's three keys to victory against the Falcons:
Ground game
Bills running back James Cook was bottled up by an opposing defense in last week's loss to the New England Patriots. It was the first time that has happened in 2025 as the Pats held him to only 49 rushing yards.
While quarterback Josh Allen leads the way for good reason (and kept last week close despite losing), it appeared stopping Cook kept the Bills offense more one-dimensional than usual on offense.
Cook opens up a lot for Buffalo's offense... and makes life easier for Allen.
Keep Penix in the pocket
In no way is Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. a mobile QB. The second-year quarterback has 20 carries for 42 yards in his career.
Regardless, if there is a defense that will give Penix confidence to pick up yards rushing, it will be the Bills. Buffalo has allowed 211 rushing yards to opposing QBs so far this season, the most in the NFL.
Keep Penix in the pocket and force turnovers from the youthful quarterback (and don't give the ball away on offense as well).
And Bijan
And let's stay on the ground game, shall we?
Both teams have strong rushing attacks on offense. Buffalo is the second-best unit in the NFL averaging 154.4 yards per game. The Falcons, led by running back Bijan Robinson, are at sixth (136.5) as a team.
The Bills defense need to stop the Falcons offense in this area (and as noted, give Cook the ball). Buffalo's defense has allowed the fifth-most rushing yards this season (145.6) and second-most yards per carry (5.6).
