The Jets remain winless on the season, losing to Denver 13-11. The defense played its best game of the year, but the offense struggled all afternoon.
The New York Jets are not only winless in the United States, but are now winless in London after an ugly 13-11 loss to the Denver Broncos in London in Week 6.
The team remains the only one in the NFL without a win this season at 0-6. While the defense had their best game of the season, the offense was the main culprit for all the team's issues against the Broncos (4-2). The Jets will have their seventh chance to get their first win next week when they host the Carolina Panthers (3-3) at MetLife Stadium.
Following the game that was, here is Jets Wire's report card following the Jets' look to the Broncos in Week 6
Passing Offense: F
It was another brutal game for Justin Fields who went 9 for 17, 45 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. He once again held on to the ball for way too long and was sacked nine times for 55 yards. Glenn should have probably pulled him for Tyrod Taylor, but elected to stick with Fields and he resulted in the team's sixth loss.
Garrett Wilson had his worst game as a Jet with three catches for 13 yards on eight targets. He fumbled the ball, but caught a break when it was ruled an incomplete pass. Wilson was seen having words with Glenn as the team headed to the locker room, clearly unhappy that his coach opted to play conservative at the half instead of taking a shot at the end zone.
Rushing Offense: F
Breece Hall carried the ball 22 times for 59 yards and averaged less than three yards per carry. It was an all-around brutal day for the offensive line as not only could they not open holes for the running backs, there were plenty of times where Fields couldn't even get rid of the ball because the Broncos pass rush was already in the backfield. So much for the running back by committee approach as Isaiah Davis carried the ball two times for two yards.
Passing Defense: B+
This was the best game by the Jets secondary this season. Bo Nix threw for 174 yards and a touchdown, but only averaged less than six yards a throw. Denver's offense as a whole was non-existent and Andre Cisco finally got the team's first turnover of the season on a Troy Franklin fumble. Jermaine Johnson was terrific in his first game back from injury as he had the Jets only sack of the day.
Rushing Defense: B+
Denver struggled running the football as J.K. Dobbins finished with only 40 yards rushing and averaged under three yards a carry. The Broncos rushed for 78 yards total as a team. An excellent day all around from the Jets defensive line.
Special Teams: A
Nick Folk continues to be the MVP of this team making all three of his field goals, including one from 52 yards. He remains perfect on the season making all 12 of his field goals. The Jets also converted a fake punt but let the clock run out to end the half instead of trying for the end zone.
Coaching: F
Another frustrating game the Jets should have won. Denver did not play well on offense and like the Jets, it was their defense that kept them in the game. Tanner Engstrand had a brutal day running the offense as the team finished with only eight first downs and 82 total yards. Fields struggled all day and probably should have been pulled. Glenn once again played conservative and it came back to bite him.
Whatever goodwill Glenn had with the fans and the players is pretty much gone. He looks completely overmatched and his decision making leaves a lot to be desired. It made no sense to not try for points at the end of the half when the team converted a fake punt. His explanation as to why he let the clock run out only made him look worse. It showed a lack of confidence in his quarterback to make a play or his defense to make a stop.
The Jets are now 0-6 and at this point, nothing should be taken off the table. Glenn was a little combative with a reporter after the game when asked if he may consider a quarterback change for next week's game against Carolina. His reaction probably means Fields will remain the starter. But, it may be better for the Jets to go back to Taylor, especially when it looks like the defense is starting to take steps forward to becoming a formidable unit again.
