Who is the Taunton Daily Gazette Football Player of the Week for Week 6?

Another week of high school football action has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.

In Week 6, despite some strong performances on both sides of the ball, a few key mistakes saw Taunton (3-2, 0-1 Hockomock Kelley-Rex) suffer heartbreak once again at the hands of Franklin in a 21-20 loss. Down in Lakeville, Dighton-Rehoboth (3-2, 1-0 South Coast Blue) held off a comeback attempt by Apponequet for a 28-23 win, while up in Westwood, Bristol-Plymouth (3-2, 1-1 Mayflower Large) couldn't keep pace with undefeated Tri-County in a 42-17 loss at Xaverian. Bridgewater-Raynham (3-2) had a bye week.

The Taunton Daily Gazette Football Player of the Week for Week 5 is Bristol-Plymouth's Lavarr Webster, receiving 69% of the vote. Bridgewater-Raynham's Jameson Durica came in second with 18%, while fellow Trojan Jack Lambert received 8% to finish third.

Dylan Keenan, Taunton

Keenan went 8-for-15 passing for 142 yards and had a rushing touchdown against Franklin.

Corbin Melo, Taunton

Melo had three sacks and an interception against Franklin.

Amari Teixeira, Taunton

Teixeira had 25 carries for 190 yards and a pair of touchdowns against Franklin.

Nate Hicks, Bristol-Plymouth

Hicks had 16 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown against Tri-County.

Thaniel LaBrie, Bristol-Plymouth

LaBrie had 11 carries for 54 yards as well as a pair of catches for 41 yards and a touchdown against Tri-County.

Cooper Benfeito, Dighton-Rehoboth

Benfeito had 23 carries for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns, as well as 5 tackles and a pass deflection against Apponequet.

Reid Mello, Dighton-Rehoboth

Mello had 5 carries for 31 yards and a touchdown as well as a pair of tackles and an interception against Apponequet.

Maddex Mendoza, Dighton-Rehoboth

Mendoza returned an interception for a touchdown against Apponequet.
