Scandal at Barça: the truth comes out about the Camp Nou renovations!
The Espai Barça project, intended to usher in a new era for FC Barcelona, is gradually turning into a controversy. According to an investigation by Cadena SER, the Turkish company Limak, tasked with rebuilding the Spotify Camp Nou, should never have been selected based on its initial performance. The club’s engineers and architects had given it a score below 50/100, citing planning that was described as "vague, unrealistic, and insufficient." Yet, to everyone’s astonishment, just two days later, the Blaugrana management ranked Limak at the top of the list with 74 points.
The main reason for this turnaround: an extremely ambitious timeline promising a return to Camp Nou in November 2024 and full completion of the works by July 2026. An enticing promise, but now far from reality. More than two years after the start of construction, no deadlines have been met, and Barça has had to extend its exile at Montjuïc at least until November 2025. Even worse, the club does not even have the necessary permits for a partial reopening.
This latest setback highlights the internal dysfunctions of a project that was supposed to be strategic. And it casts a shadow over Barcelona’s governance, accused of favoring speed over technical rigor.
