Bridgestone’s new e12 Splash uses a hydrophobic RPL-X coating to repel water and mud while retaining distance and spin consistency.
Gear: Bridgestone e12 Splash golf balls
Price: $34.99 per dozen
Specs: Three-piece, urethane-covered ball with hydrophobic coating.
Who it’s for: Golfers who often play in wet or muddy conditions and who want a ball that maintains consistent flight and spin.
What you should know: The e12 Splash introduces Bridgestone’s new RPL-X coating, a hydrophobic finish designed to repel water and prevent mud buildup. The result is a ball that keeps its intended launch, spin and speed characteristics even when the weather turns bad.
The Deep Dive: Bridgestone’s e12 family has always aimed to give recreational golfers performance tailored to their tendencies. Earlier this year, the company released three distinct versions: e12 HiLaunch, e12 Straight and e12 Speed, with each addressing a specific type of ball flight. The new e12 Splash extends that same player-focused approach into an entirely new performance category: weather resilience.
The key to the e12 Splash is its RPL-X hydrophobic coating, a finish designed to repel water from the ball’s cover so it stays cleaner. According to Bridgestone, this coating reduces the effect of water and mud that can cling to the ball and alter spin rates or direction. That means fewer “mud balls” and more predictable flight when conditions are damp.
Underneath the coating, the e12 Splash retains the same three-piece construction and Contact Force Dimple pattern found in the other e12 models. The soft core and mantle work together to reduce sidespin for straighter shots, while the dimple design maximizes energy transfer and helps maintain a consistent trajectory. For golfers who play early in the morning when dew covers the course or who compete on rain-softened turf, this could be one of the most interesting performance upgrades available this fall.
Bridgestone is also continuing to include its MindSet visual technology on every e12 Splash. Developed with Jason Day and his longtime coach Jason Goldsmith, MindSet uses a three-color pattern and a simple sequence — Identify, Visualize, Focus — to reinforce mental preparation. Bridgestone’s internal testing has shown that golfers who integrate MindSet into their routine see measurable improvement in confidence and consistency on the course.
