Liverpool will welcome back one star to training this week despite an injury. Fantastic news for the Reds.

Liverpool are in a spell of poor form right now, having lost three fixtures on the bounce. Their great start hasn’t quite been undone, but it’s clear that Arne Slot and company have work to do.

Manchester United will now make the trip to Anfield in one of the biggest games of the season so far. It may well end up being defining for both teams, in fact.

What Liverpool don’t need, then, are injuries. The Reds have a few to contend with already this season, with Alisson Becker the most notable.

He picked up a problem against Galatasaray, ruling him out of the Chelsea clash and potentially into November.

Ibrahima Konate may have joined him on the sidelines after leaving the defeat at Stamford Bridge early. His thigh injury continued into the international break as France sent him home early.

However, Liverpool may have dodged a third first-team injury problem.

Liverpool dodge injury issue

Ryan Gravenberch hurt his hamstring at the weekend, as confirmed by Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman. The midfielder was removed early from the win over Finland as a result - a worrying sign for Liverpool.

However, journalist David Lynch is adamant that Gravenberch will be okay and is expected to return to training with the Reds ahead of the United game. He'll have a couple more days off, then, to rest his hamstring before getting back to it.

And that's a real relief for Liverpool. Losing Alisson, Konate and Gravenberch would rip the core out of the team before a massive game.

Having the Dutchman available makes covering other absences far more simple and without bringing mass upheaval to the team. In fact, we could even see Gravenberch be the replacement for Konate - that was the move against Chelsea, after all.

We're still crossing our fingers that Konate will be okay to face United, though. Alisson might be a stretch too far but the two outfield stars could feasibly both play.

Gravenberch certainly looks the most likely of the two at this stage, though.
