Area golfers shined as the MIAA state sectionals were held this week. Here's a recap of all the results.
Boys' golf
Division 2 West Sectional: Senior Sam Pieczynski claimed the individual title with a 2-over 73 and junior Wyatt Fay finished ninth with an 82 to help Tantasqua win the team title with a 323 at Chicopee Country Club.
The Warriors topped defending Division 2 state champion Pope Francis by three strokes. Tantasqua's Drew Bardley (83) and Lucas Tully (85) also shined for the Warriors.
Leominster's William Connors shot 11-over 82, and teammates Connor Nevins (84) and James Connors (85) shined as the Blue Devils tied with Mount Greylock for fourth. Quabbin's Finnegan Leander also shot 83 as the Panthers took seventh.
Quaboag's Connor Burgess and Gardner's Jackson Jalbert carded 84s.
Division 3 Central Sectional: Reid Ohanesian earned medalist honors and helped Ayer-Shirley repeat as the Division 3 Central champions at Shining Rock in Northbridge.
Ohanesian, who earned medalist honors at last year's Division 3 state championship and led Ayer-Shirley to its first state title as a team, shot 6-over 78 as the Panthers finished with 328 points.
Ohanesian finished second to teammate Tommy Bergin in last year's D3 Central Sectional.
Aadi Patel carded 8-over 80 to take fourth for Ayer-Shirley, while teammates Jason Turner and Tyler Trask each carded 84s to tie for 10th
Hopedale's Colin Haynes carded a 7-over 79 to tie with Greater Lowell's Tommy McKiernan for second place as the Blue Raiders took second with 347 points. Jacob Whyte (87) tied for 15th and Brady Wadja (88) tied for 20th for Hopedale.
Lunenburg took third with 356 points, edging Greater Lowell, which took fourth at 358. Cayden Chow (84) tied for 10th for the Blue Knights, while Andrew Nicosia (86) tied for 13th and Connor Lammi (87) tied for 15th.
Thomas Bates and Jake Notaro each carded 82 as Clinton placed fifth with 363 points, edging Littleton at 365.
The Tigers were led by Gavin Werling, who shot 83 to tie for eighth and Colton Corey, who shot 87 to tie for 15th.
Bromfield's Noah Petrossi tied for fifth with an 82 and Nipmuc's Cooper Chaves tied for eighth with an 83. The top eight finishers and top three teams advance to the Division 3 state meet at Blissful Meadows on Monday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m.
Sutton (eighth, 380), AMSA (ninth (387) and Hudson (11th, 403) also competed.
Division 1 West Sectional: Wachusett's Dom DelNegro shot 4-over 76 to tie for fourth place, while teammate Ricky Narain tied for 15th after shooting 82 as the Mountaineers placed fourth as a team at Ludlow Country Club.
Aiden Boyce shot 86 for Wachusett, while teammates Luke Kirton and Andrew Victor each shot 90.
North Middlesex's Brady Lavery shot 79 to tie for ninth, while Auburn's Jonathan Rocheford carded 82 to tie for 15th and Shepherd Hill's Jack Orrell shot 84 to tie for 20th.
Longmeadow won the team title. Auburn's Miley Joslyn shot 86 and Aidan Donahue carded 88 to help Auburn finish sixth. Ely Gemboski carded 88 as Bay Path placed ninth.
