Tri-Cities, TN — The regional volleyball championships were on the line Tuesday night in Northeast Tennessee, along with the District soccer tournaments.
In Kingsport, the Science Hill Hilltoppers and Dobyns-Bennett Indians met for the 5th time on the volleyball court, and the Lady Indians would win in straight sets 3-0. In Bluff City, Chuckey-Doak was in town to face the Patriots of Sullivan East, and the Black Knights would take it 5 sets, but Sullivan East would win 3-2, their first regional since 2021.
In the Region 1-A volleyball championship, West Greene was at South Greene, facing the Lady Rebels, and the homestanding team would hang on to win 3-1. Both teams move on to Thursday’s sectional round. South Greene will be at home, and West Greene will be on the road.
On the pitch, Science Hill was in Gray, TN, to face the hosting Daniel Boone Trailblazers, and the Lady Toppers Brenna Overbay turned in a hat trick to lead the Toppers to a 3-0 victory.
In Kingsport, the Dobyns-Bennett Indians were facing the Tennessee High Vikings in the other semi-final Class 3-A game, and the Lady Vikings beat Dobyns-Bennett on a PK shootout 4-3. D-B misses regional for the 1st time since 2018.
In the Class 1-A tournament, University High was hosting Gatlinburg-Pittman, and the Lady Bucs Charlotte Williams scored the only goal they needed as University School won 3-nil.
And the Sullivan East Lady Patriot Soccer team won their semi-finals District 1 Soccer Match 5-0 over Unicoi Co. tonight. The Patriots were led by Reagan McCroskey, who tallied two goals. Sullivan East will travel to Elizabethton on Thursday night for a shot at the District Title.
