According to a recent report from SPORT, Barcelona have set their sights on young Mexican talent Gilberto Mora and plan to keep a close watch on his progress in the coming months.
The midfielder, who celebrated his 17th birthday just yesterday, has already drawn attention from top clubs like Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.
However, any move will have to wait until he turns 18 in October 2026, giving Barcelona plenty of time to position themselves for his signature.
Factors working in Barcelona’s favour
It must be noted that Mora is represented by Rafaela Pimenta, the experienced agent who once worked alongside the late Mino Raiola.
Her strong working relationship with Joan Laporta could prove beneficial for Barça in their pursuit of the youngster.
Club officials believe Mora has the perfect mix of qualities to fit into the new era at the Spotify Camp Nou, provided he continues developing at the same impressive pace.

At just 17, Mora has already shown remarkable maturity in his game. Comfortable in midfield or on the wing, he is admired for his two-footed ability.
Barcelona view him as a player capable of adapting well to their style of football, one that demands creativity and intelligence.
Laporta and Deco tracking Mora’s development
For now, Mora is expected to remain with Club Tijuana, as FIFA regulations prevent him from moving abroad before adulthood.
This means a potential transfer could realistically happen in January 2027, once he turns 18 and all formalities are cleared. Any deal would also include a transfer fee paid to his current club.
While PSG are yet to make a move, Barça, Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Manchester City are all carefully observing the situation.
Interestingly, MLS side Inter Miami are also keen, reportedly hoping to pair Mora with Lionel Messi in the future.
For Barcelona, this waiting period could actually work in their favour. The club, still stabilising its finances, is in no rush and will continue monitoring the teenager’s evolution closely.
