Power rankings: Where the Jets rank in Week 7 national polls after first loss

Where the Jets land in a roundup of national media power rankings polls ahead of Week 7.

Another week, another loss.

As far as the standings are concerned, the New York Jets (0-6) are the worst team in the NFL heading into Week 7. The Jets lost, 13-11, in London against the Denver Broncos, securing them as the only remaining team in football that has yet to win a game in 2025.

Are the Green and White at the bottom of the barrel in power rankings like they are in the standings heading into Week 7?

Here’s how the Jets fare in national media power rankings polls before Week 7:

32. New York Jets (32):

The cigar seems close, half of the winless NYJ's six defeats by a two-point margin. And given they nearly won Sunday, despite the 82-yard output by the offense? No moral victories in the NFL, but reason here not to let morale circle the drain.

Sunday: Lost to Broncos 13-11

Fantasy focus: Garrett Wilson

Eight targets. Three catches. That was Wilson’s day on Sunday. It’s impressive that he has managed to score any points while being a part of this mess, much less enough to be the 38th-highest scoring player of the season. Quarterback Justin Fields is 30th in EPA per dropback, and still Wilson has 36 catches for 395 yards and four of the team’s 11 offensive touchdowns. There should be a fantasy points multiplier bonus system just for playing for these Jets.

Week 6 Result: Lost vs. Denver 13-11

As the only winless team in the league, the Jets are in the pits of the power rankings, which isn't a surprise.

Head coach Aaron Glenn took umbrage with a reporter's question about Justin Fields' status as the starting quarterback, but it was a fair inquiry, considering the signal-caller's poor showing. Fields held onto the ball far too long, which led to a number of the nine sacks he took in London. He's struggled mightily in two contests this season and may be one poor outing away from the bench.

32. Jets (-)

They are still winless, even when the defense showed up against Denver. Aaron Glenn has to turn it around quickly, or there will be calls for a one-and-done.

32. New York Jets

They flew all the way over to London to gain just 82 yards of offense. Quarterback Justin Fields dropped back 26 times, completed nine passes and was sacked nine times. The Jets' best play was when the Broncos got called for holding in their own end zone for a safety. I mean, can it get any worse, right? (Jets fans, don’t answer.)

Aaron Glenn is going to remain in New York so long as he’s able to convince Woody Johnson that the Jets are on a similar trajectory as Dan Campbell’s Lions, which endured a three-win season without a victory until the ninth game of the year. The issue, however, is that Campbell’s earnestness and finesse at the podium did not follow Glenn to Florham Park. His end of half charade—followed by a puzzling explanation, followed by chiding a reporter for daring to ask if Justin Fields (after a dreadful performance) should be benched, followed by a day after presser in which he admitted Fields wasn’t playing well—simply isn’t going to fly.

Lesson learned: Aaron Glenn isn't a quick-fix coach.

No one expected the Jets to be a playoff team in Glenn's first season, but they weren't expected to be 0-6. Compared with last season (5-12), the Jets have regressed on both sides of the ball, finding new ways to lose every week. Glenn talked tough at the outset, promising to exorcise past demons, but his lack of head coaching experience is apparent at times. He walked into a herculean challenge. If he doesn't find some wins soon, his locker room could start to fracture. Welcome to the Jets.
