Drury's Carson Morgan named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week after six-point weekend

The senior from Springfield scored against both Lewis and Upper Iowa during Drury wins over the weekend.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced its men's soccer weekly award winners on Monday, Oct. 13, and Drury's Carson Morgan earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week honor for his performances against Lewis and Upper Iowa.

A senior from Springfield, Missouri, Morgan led the Panthers to a six-point weekend, posting wins over Lewis (2-1) and Upper Iowa (4-2). Morgan contributed to both of Drury's goals against Lewis, scoring off a cross and assisting freshman Dane Prost. He scored again against Upper Iowa off a corner kick from Samuel Tagg.

Drury men's soccer heads back on the road for a GLVC matchup against Quincy on Friday, Oct. 17. Kickoff in Quincy, Illinois, is set for 7:30 p.m.

Panthers' defense locks down Upper Iowa in Senior Day win

Drury women's soccer defeated Upper Iowa 2-0 Sunday afternoon, Oct. 12, at Harrison Stadium to improve to 6-2-3 and 5-1-3 in GLVC play.

Upper Iowa started the first five minutes of the match strong, getting two shots off in the first two minutes, one on goal, both of which were saved by Taylor Thompson. Drury gained momentum from that point, taking 10 shots in the first half, six of which were on goal.

Holland Hawkins broke the scoring seal with the first goal of the afternoon from 20 yards out, receiving an assist from Kadence Krempges in the 66th minute. Drury kept up the offensive pressure, and in the 84th minute, was awarded a free kick following a Peacock yellow card. Freshman Grace Pohl took the kick from 35 yards out, slipping the ball past every Upper Iowa defender to find the net for the second and final goal of the contest.

Drury returns to the road on Friday, Oct. 17, against Quincy. The Panthers and Hawks will kick off in Quincy, Illinois, at 5 p.m.

Drury's swimming and diving turns in strong performances at SMU, Clarion

Drury men's and women's swimming and diving concluded day two of the SMU Classic, with both programs securing fourth-place finishes Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11, at Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center.

Louisville captured both the men's and women's team crowns, while both Drury squads edged out meet host SMU (NCAA-I) for the No. 4 position in the team standings.

For the second straight day in Dallas, the Drury men were paced by big performances from Belhassen Ben miled and Joao Nogueira. Ben miled, who placed third in the 400 IM on Friday, took silver in the 200 fly with a time of 1:46.31, while Nogueira registered a third-place finish in the 200 breast (1:58.43) after wrapping up a bronze in the 100 breast on Friday.

On the women's side of the ledger, Gwen Bergum turned in the top individual finish for the Panthers on Saturday, Oct. 11, placing third in the 200 breast with a swim of 2:15.26.

The Panthers' dive contingent wrapped up a solid weekend with a fourth-place finish at the Clarion Fall Classic, led by 10th place finishes from Claire Garrelts (1-meter) and Anamarie Lewis (3-meter). DU placed second in the Friday, Oct. 10 Don Leas Invitational, after Lewis placed third in the 3-meter (203.05).
