Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has shared a positive update on his recovery, giving fans hope that he could feature in the highly anticipated El Clasico against Barcelona on October 26th.

It must be noted that the English full-back suffered an injury against Marseille on September 16, with initial estimates suggesting a 10 to 12-week absence.

This timeline had cast doubt on his chances of making it back for the showdown at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, the former Liverpool defender has set his sights firmly on being fit for the clash and is working diligently at Valdebebas to achieve that goal.

The defender’s recovery is progressing well. He has already started running and touching the ball on the pitch, though he continues to train individually.

Expressing his optimism on social media, the 27-year-old posted a photo of himself in training with the caption – “Back soon.”

Real Madrid’s right-back situation

Currently, Xabi Alonso faces a challenge in the right-back position. Both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal are recovering from injuries, leaving Real Madrid short in that area.

The encouraging news is that both players are on track to potentially be available for the Clasico, giving Alonso more options for the squad.

For the upcoming game against Getafe, though, the manager is unlikely to risk the two full-backs.

This means Federico Valverde is once again likely to be Alonso’s full-back given the fact that Raul Asencio could be used alongside Eder Militao at centre-back in Dean Huijsen’s absence.

Meanwhile, during Thursday’s training session, Ferland Mendy, Alexander-Arnold, and Carvajal all participated in preparation, while Antonio Rudiger remains the only confirmed injured player in the squad.

The return of Alexander-Arnold and Carvajal would strengthen Madrid’s defensive options significantly as they approach a critical period in the league.
