High school girls soccer: Thursday’s 6A/5A/4A quarterfinals recap

6A Playoffs

Davis 1, Farmington 0

Davis edged past Farmington 1-0 in a tightly contested 6A quarterfinal game, with Samantha Maudsley scoring the decisive goal in the first half. Kaitlyn Harris secured the shutout for Davis, marking her sixth of the season, as the Darts (11-7) clinched their second straight semifinal appearance. Farmington (12-7) was unable to break through Davis’ defense, despite having won both regular-season meetings. The victory propels Davis into the semifinals where they will face either No. 2 Syracuse or No. 10 Corner Canyon.

Syracuse 2, Corner Canyon 0

No. 2 Syracuse advanced to the 6A semifinals with a 2-0 victory over No. 10 Corner Canyon, featuring goals from Taylee Hughes and Indy Heap. Hughes, who now totals 24 goals this season, opened the scoring in the first half with an assist from Taylor Henley. Jocee Eddy assisted Heap’s second-half goal to secure the win. Goalkeeper Erin Bott earned her ninth shutout for the Titans (17-3). Corner Canyon (10-8) was unable to find the back of the net despite their efforts.

Mountain Ridge 2, American Fork 1

Kelsey Goodwin scored the decisive goal as No. 4 Mountain Ridge rallied to beat No. 5 American Fork 2-1 in the 6A playoffs quarterfinals. After trailing 1-0 at halftime due to Eva Gunn’s goal for American Fork, Mountain Ridge’s Alexia Hernandez equalized before Goodwin’s winner. Mountain Ridge (15-4) advances to the semifinals, maintaining their momentum from capturing the Region 2 title. American Fork (11-5) bow out after a hard-fought contest.

Lone Peak 3, Copper Hills 0

Lone Peak defeated Copper Hills 3-0 in the 6A quarterfinals, with Ivy Harding netting two goals for the Knights. Sasha Castro added another goal, and Kate Fuller contributed two assists. Lone Peak’s defense, led by goalkeeper Eliza Collings, recorded their 13th shutout of the season. The Knights (17-1-1) advance to face either American Fork or Mountain Ridge in the semifinals, while Copper Hills (14-6) concluded their playoff run.

5A Playoffs

Bountiful 6, Kearns 0

Belle Sorensen and Myka Page each scored twice as Bountiful triumphed over Kearns 6-0 in the 5A quarterfinals. Sorensen also provided an assist, bringing her season totals to 24 goals and 10 assists, while Jane Hellewell added four assists to help Bountiful (12-5) advance to the semifinals. Kearns (13-3), despite a strong regular season performance, struggled to contain Bountiful’s dynamic offense. Bountiful’s goalkeeper Chloe Bryson recorded the shutout against top-seeded Kearns.

Springville 2, Timpview 0

Sage Conrad’s two-goal performance propelled Springville to a 2-0 victory over Timpview in the 5A quarterfinals, ending the Red Devils’ 16-year semifinal drought. Springville (14-5) took the lead in the first half and never looked back, with Kayla Bunnell adding an assist. Goalkeeper Caroline Penrod secured the shutout for the Red Devils, who advance to face either No. 8 Bountiful in the semifinals. Timpview (14-5) was unable to breach Springville’s defense, bringing their season to a close.

Spanish Fork 0, Box Elder 0 (Spanish Fork advances on PKs 5-4)

No. 3 Spanish Fork (14-5) secured their spot in the 5A semifinals with a tense victory over No. 11 Box Elder, winning 5-4 in a penalty shootout after the teams played to a 0-0 draw through regulation and overtime. Spanish Fork’s resilience in tight matches was evident as they edged past Box Elder’s dynamic offense, which had scored 15 goals in their previous two playoff games. Box Elder goalkeeper Emma Nelson added another shutout to her season total, but it wasn’t enough to stop the home team’s advancement. The Dons continue to be strong on their home turf with their tenth win at home this season.

Olympus 1, Brighton 0

Adrie Pulver scored the only goal of the game to lead No. 2 Olympus to a 1-0 victory over No. 10 Brighton in the 5A quarterfinals. This continued Olympus’ dominance in their Region 6 rivalry, marking their 12th win over Brighton in the past five seasons. The Titans (15-3) advance to the semifinals, with Pulver adding to her season total of eight goals. Brighton (14-6) was unable to break through the Olympus defense despite a strong effort.

4A Playoffs

Snow Canyon 1, Crimson Cliffs 0

Lottie Smith scored the decisive goal in the second half to lead No. 2 Snow Canyon to a 1-0 victory over No. 6 Crimson Cliffs in a 4A quarterfinal matchup. With the win, Snow Canyon (15-2) extended its winning streak against their Region 9 rivals to seven games. Goalkeeper Tori Martin secured her fifth shutout of the season, anchoring a defense that stifled Crimson Cliffs (14-4). Snow Canyon will advance to the semifinals to face Desert Hills.

Park City 2, Mountain Crest 0

Park City secured a 2-0 victory over Mountain Crest in the 4A quarterfinals, with second-half goals from Riley Reese and Ashtyn Holder. Elsa Dellenbach provided an assist for the Miners, while goalkeeper Sierra Cobleigh recorded a shutout to anchor the defense. This win propels Park City (16-3) to the semifinals, marking their continued success after capturing the Region 10 championship. Mountain Crest (13-3-1) was unable to capitalize on its home advantage, ending its season with its first home loss.

Ridgeline 3, Mountain View 0

Top seeded Ridgeline’s Lily Hunsaker scored a goal and provided an assist to lead the RiverHawks to a 3-0 victory over #9 Mountain View in the 4A quarterfinals. Keagan Grange and Sam Brown also found the net for Ridgeline (17-2), while goalkeeper Molly Mann secured her 10th shutout of the season. The RiverHawks, who have now scored 96 goals this season, advance to face the winner of the matchup between No. 5 Park City and No. 4 Mountain Crest. Mountain View (14-5) was unable to break through Ridgeline’s formidable defense.

Desert Hills 2, Green Canyon 1

No. 7 Desert Hills advanced to the semifinals with a 2-1 victory over No. 2 Green Canyon in a 4A quarterfinal matchup in North Logan. Ellie Heaton scored one of Desert Hills’ two goals, and Peyton Obrien also found the net for the Thunder. Green Canyon’s Eva Israelsen scored the Wolves’ lone goal in the second half. Desert Hills (15-4) had contributions from Kamri Yergenson and Chloe Morris, each providing an assist.
