Nottingham Forest eye Brendan Rodgers as pressure mounts on Postecoglou

Nottingham Forest are considering making a second managerial appointment this season, with head coach Ange Postecoglou struggling at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest are back in action this weekend at home, with Postecoglou fighting for his job.

Forest are yet to record a first win under Postecoglou after seven games, and club chairman Evangelos Marinakis could make another change in the dugout.

The Tricky Trees sit dangerously above the relegation zone and desperately need a turnaround, or could find themselves in hot water by May.

Interestingly, Alex Crook has mentioned current Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers as an option for the Nottinghamshire-based club.

Rodgers could leave the Scottish outfit after an underwhelming 2025/26 campaign and is an option for the potential managerial vacancy at the City Ground.

Discussing Rodgers’ future, Crook said: “Don’t rule out Nottingham Forest either because Marinakis has been a long-term admirer of Rodgers and obviously Postecoglou is still on a very sticky wicket there.”

Rodgers has Premier League experience that could prove vital for Forest, having managed Liverpool and Leicester City.

He finished second in the Premier League with the Reds and won the FA Cup and Community Shield with the latter. He has also spearheaded Celtic to 11 titles.

For Nottingham Forest, landing Rodgers would be a coup that signals genuine ambition rather than mere survival.

He’s a proven architect of structure and identity, qualities Forest have lacked amid the constant managerial churn.
