American Heritage was coming off a 42-21 victory over Miami Norland and were winners of their last three games since a Sep. 19 loss to Miami Central.
For the Patriots (4-4), this is just another blow to what looks to be dimming their hopes to repeat as Class 4A state champions just a little more.
American Heritage will have no time to wallow in the loss as they must prepare to turn things around for next week’s meeting against nationally ranked St. Thomas Aquinas.
