“Relationship with the coach” – Agent regrets sending his client to join Chelsea

An agent says that he regrets sending his client to join Chelsea in the end even if it was the right call at the time.

We’ve had many dramatic transfer stories involving Chelsea and many disastrous ones as well. Some players come and succeed, others come and fail. Some will cause more issues and drama than others whilst doing so.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea in talks with Red Bull, Oracle, and a third company over new Front of Shirt Sponsors!!

We are all very familiar with the Romelu Lukaku story and his come back to Chelsea. It was supposed to be a fairy tale story involving Lukaku coming back to Chelsea to make it this time, but all it ended up being was an absolute nightmare for all involved.

Lukaku joined Chelsea and just suffered from the off really. He failed to perform, got dropped, seemingly fell out with his manager Thomas Tuchel, and then did an interview mid-season basically saying how unhappy he was. It was a terrible idea from him and it ruined everything.

Agent regrets it all

Lukaku’s agent at the time, Federico Pastorello, admits to regrets to sending Lukaku back to his former club.

He said:

“It was the right decision at the time. Then there are the human variables; no one could have predicted Lukaku’s difficulties, perhaps not so much environmental ones, because he knew the club, but rather in his relationship with the coach.

“He came from an almost father-son relationship with (Antonio) Conte, and that difference in approach affected him in some way, along with the injury he suffered. If it hadn’t been for that, the story would have been different.”

Nobody cares anymore

The bottom line is that this has now been and gone and really, nobody truly cares about it anymore. Lukaku was a bit of a clown to be honest and acted silly. Could Tuchel and Chelsea have handled it better? Who knows. But it’s been and gone now.
