Argonauts vs Stampeders Prediction, Picks & Odds for CFL Week 20

The Toronto Argonauts wrap up a disappointing season with a game against the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium on Saturday night.

Toronto is at the bottom of the league in nearly every defensive metric, which is why my Argonauts vs. Stampeders predictions are betting on plenty of points from the home side.

Here are my best CFL picks for this Week 20 clash on October 18.

My Argonauts vs Stampeders pick: Stampeders team total Over 30.5  (-125 at BET99)

The Toronto Argonauts have been eliminated from the playoffs and have their terrible defense to thank for that. The Argos are last in the CFL in points per game allowed (31.7) and yards allowed per play (7.00). 

They are also last in the league in opponent pass efficiency (109.3) and big plays allowed (55). If that wasn't enough, they rank dead last when it comes to covering punt and kick returns. 

That stop unit could be even worse this week without their best defensive tackle, Anthony Lanier, top pass rusher Andrew Chatfield, and All-Star linebacker Wynton McManis. Given that this team is just playing out the string, don't expect much defensive effort on the road in their season finale. 

Meanwhile, the Calgary Stampeders should be highly motivated as they jockey for a spot in the playoffs in the final two weeks of the season. 

The Stamps are fresh off a 37-20 win against the Ticats and have an explosive and balanced offense. Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. loves to push the ball downfield, while Dedrick Mills leads the league with 1,225 rushing yards on 5.6 yards per carry.

The only thing Toronto had going for it in 2025 was an impressive aerial attack with backup QB Nick Arbuckle at the helm. Arbuckle was shut down before last week's game with third-string QB Jarrett Doege making his second career start in a 27-19 loss to the Riders. 

Head coach Ryan Dinwiddie has said that Doege will start this week, with fourth-string Tucker Horn likely playing in the second half. That could lead to offensive struggles, especially behind Toronto's brutal offensive line and with no running game to take pressure off them.
