Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who hasn’t taken a snap for the Cleveland Browns in regular season NFL action and may be behind Bailey Zappe on the team’s depth chart, could be a trade candidate ahead of the November 4 trade deadline.
The New York Jets, who have started 0-6 under new head coach Aaron Glenn and with Justin Fields under center, make a lot of sense for the “Grown QB.” FanSided’s Christopher Kline pitched Sanders as a sensible solution to the offensive issues that have kept Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall from taking off for the Jets in 2025.
“There are other issues beyond Fields — in fact, Fields is very much a product of those other issues — but the Jets need to switch things up at quarterback. That much is clear,” Kline wrote.
“If the Jets can bring in a young quarterback for trial by fire, that is the ideal solution. Why not see what Sanders can do with a long runway? It’s not like the Jets are without quality playmakers. Garrett Wilson is one of the best wideouts in the NFL. Breece Hall is a genuine magician working out of the backfield. New York just needs a quarterback who’s willing to take a few risks and air it out. Sanders will undoubtedly experience his share of struggles in that Jets offense, but he would have a hard time not delivering better results.”
WFAN’s Evan Roberts made the same suggestion on the Evan and Tiki radio show. Roberts also called the Jets a “circus” while tossing around a couple of expletives.
“It is time for the Jets to acquire Shedeur Sanders from the Cleveland Browns. Someone tell me why that’s a bad idea, and I don’t want to hear about it’s a circus. What’s this? What the [expletive] is this that we’re watching? Circus, that’s a circus,” Roberts proclaimed.
“The Jets should have drafted this guy, I don’t know, second, third, fourth. They had a million opportunities to draft him. He has not gotten an opportunity in Cleveland.”
Gang Green has thrown everything at the wall in the past few seasons and has seen nothing stick offensively. Robert Salah’s two options, Mike LaFleur or Nathaniel Hackett, didn’t bring much success with anyone they deployed, and Glenn is getting little from Tanner Engstrand’s offense, at least with Fields getting snaps.
Why not Shedeur in the Big Apple?
At worst, they can lose their way to the No. 1 pick, which is already their worst-case scenario. It’s a lateral move that can at least generate revenue for the team through increased ticket and jersey sales.
