Real Madrid set sights on signing teenage sensation – player wants to join

Real Madrid have often kept tabs on some of the world’s most highly-rated younger players, and now is no different. They already brought in Franco Mastantuono during the summer transfer window, and soon, he could be joined by another starlet.

In recent weeks, it has been reported that Real Madrid are interested in Mexican wonderkid Gilberto Mora, who starred at the U20 World Cup despite only being 16 years of age at the time. Now 17, the versatile midfielder/attacker has quickly developed into one of the most sought-after young players in the world, with Barcelona having also been linked with signing him.

As for Real Madrid, they are certainly interested in Mora, but as Diario AS have revealed, they will not make any move to sign him for now. They want to see how he performs at a major tournament, and they should get their wish next summer as the plan is for him to be included in Mexico’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

It has been reported that Real Madrid could sign Mora for as little as €17m, which would be a bargain price if he continues his upward trajectory at next summer’s World Cup. And if they were to make their move, they would have a significant advantage in that the teenager’s dream is to play for Los Blancos.

Is Mora a player that Real Madrid need to sign?

Typically, Mora operates as a left-sided attacker, although he can also play as a left-sided central midfielder. In this regard, he is quite similar to Arda Guler, but on the opposite flank. And while that may be exciting, there is scope to suggest that is not an area that Real Madrid need to address.

They already have Jude Bellingham as a left-sided midfielder that is attack-minded, while on the left wing, there is Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes. But given that the latter could depart in 2026, there may be a door left open for Mora’s arrival.
