During his chat with @EdEastonJr, NFL quarterback Joshua Dobbs reflected on his history at Tennessee ahead of the 'Third Saturday in October'
This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke to New England Patriots quarterback and Tennessee Volunteers legend Joshua Dobbs.
In his interview with Easton Jr., Dobbs, who recently teamed up with Dr Pepper to host the 'Pepper Portal' at the 'Third Saturday in October' annual showdown between the University of Alabama and the University of Tennessee, discussed the proud Volunteers alumni that will be watching tonight's game, likely including two current Kansas City Chiefs players.
"I think both teams are playing good football, so I think it's going to turn into probably the game of the year. Our quarterback and offense are rolling. Our defense is playing well," said Dobbs. "Alabama is talented, so I think the stage is primed. A night game in Tuscaloosa means everybody will have plenty of time to tailgate and get ready for the game. So yeah, I'm excited to watch it, and definitely excited to rock my orange when we come out victorious."
Dr Pepper will host a special gameday event to debut The Pepper Portal, a first-of-its-kind interactive fan experience connecting rival college football towns. The event will take place today from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Rama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Cool Bean Bar and Grill in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Dobbs played four seasons for the Volunteers, earning Second-team All-SEC during the 2016 season. He recalled his favorite memories from his college career.
"I really loved that we beat Florida at home my senior year for the first time in eleven years. It was a tremendous scene, like we were rocking the Smokey Gray checkerboard, which was in full effect. First SEC game," said Dobbs, "That was a great memory, and then the next week, we went on the road to Georgia, and won on the Hail Mary. That two-to-two-week stretch was one of my favorites during my time on Rocky Top."
Chiefs Pro Bowl right guard Trey Smith spent four years at Tennessee, earning First and Second-team All-SEC during his tenure. Rookie defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott spent his last two college seasons with the Volunteers after transferring from Arizona State. He accumulated 44 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery.
"I will definitely be drinking a little Dr Pepper this Saturday, cheering on the boys as we go into Tuscaloosa and pull out one for the books against a really good Alabama team," said Dobbs, "I'm excited to cheer on my Vols. I hope all the fans come out. They're locked in at Cool Bean Bar and Grill, drinking their Dr Pepper. They're locked in Tuscaloosa and ready to watch a victorious Tennessee team take down the Crimson Tide."
