Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart explains why Georgia needs to have "the best atmosphere we've ever had" against Ole Miss
Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart has sent a message to Bulldog fans ahead of Georgia's 3:30 p.m. ET game on Saturday, Oct. 18 against the Ole Miss Rebels.
"We need the best atmosphere we've ever had in Sanford Stadium," Smart said. Georgia has won 50 of its last 52 games at home, but the Bulldogs lost early this season to Alabama at home, which snapped a 33-game home winning streak.
Georgia fans have a lot of reasons to be excited for the Ole Miss game. Both No. 7 Georgia and No. 5 Ole Miss are ranked in the top-10 and ESPN's "College GameDay" is in town for the SEC clash. Additionally, Georgia fans are planning to stripe Sanford Stadium.
Georgia knows how small the margins are in the SEC these days and having a loud crowd could be enough to be the difference in winning and losing. One false start penalty or a miscommunication could change the course of the entire game. Against Auburn, we saw how just one play could completely alter the momentum of a game.
Smart noted how Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin communicates with quarterback Trinidad Chambliss presnap to try to get the Rebels in their best possible play. Kiffin's communication with Chambliss cuts off with 15 seconds left on the play clock.
"We need to make that (coach to quarterback communication) extremely difficult," Smart said. "The issue and the challenge has been issued for our fan base to be extremely difficult for them to communicate and do things offensively that they do, especially at home and sometimes on the road when it's not the right environment."
Smart also praised Georgia fans for their performance on the road at Auburn.
