Our NFL first touchdown scorer picks expect Rashee Rice to find paydirt early vs. Vegas.
We’re somehow now seven weeks into the NFL season.
I’ve crunched the numbers and analyzed every bit of data available to me, in order to find the three players that should score first in their respective games this Sunday.
Here are my best three NFL picks for Week 7 action on October 19. For more TD action, check out Josh Inglis' weekly TD props!
Best Week 7 first TD scorer props
TD prop #1: Rashee Rice first TD scorer
Rashee Rice started this season suspended and hasn’t stepped on the field since Week 4 last season. So why am I backing him?
Well, the Kansas City Chiefs are the biggest favorites this week, so we should see somebody in red score the opening touchdown.
Rice really leaps out as that guy. The Chiefs have shown glimpses of brilliance this season, along with some substandard play, but what’s really stuck out has been their lack of an elite passcatcher: Rice will fix that.
The coaches have been gushing about him in recent weeks, and they're excited to focus heavily on him offensively. Rice should be returning with a sizable workload, and given he’s their best pass catcher, he offers value here at +700.
TD prop #2: TreVeyon Henderson first TD scorer
No team has given up more touchdowns to running backs this season than the Titans, who have already allowed 10.
However, they’re playing a New England Patriots team who have a very confusing situation at running back. Mike Vrabel has kept Rhamondre Stevenson as the team’s most used running back despite some truly horrific performances.
At some point, that has to change, and Stevenson will be on a short leash, especially with rookie TreVeyon Henderson looking better statistically in nearly every dimension.
Stevenson has scored just twice all season and has had two consecutive games averaging two or fewer yards per carry. He’s not efficient, and Henderson had had a better yards per carry in four of six games this season.
The changing of the guard will come against Tennessee.
TD prop #3: Jaylin Lane first TD scorer
First touchdown picks are all about opportunity, and opportunity knocks for Jaylin Lane this Sunday.
Terry McLaurin is missing the divisional clash with the Cowboys, while Deebo Samuel is also listed as questionable, with his availability on Sunday in contention.
It will be Lane that steps up into McLaurin’s spot, and there should be plenty of opportunities to make plays with the team’s best WR, and potentially Samuel, missing.
The Cowboys are the perfect team to be facing here, with the team allowing an average of two touchdowns to wide receivers each game.
That’s more than anybody else in the league, and Lane should be the player to take advantage. The Cowboys’ subpar pass rush will allow Jayden Daniels the time to pick out the speedy Lane, who is a real deep threat.
The rookie shone in training camp and demonstrated his explosive ability in his 90-yard punt return last month. It’s his time to break out.
