As the NFL trade deadline is closing in, teams around the league are sizing up the buyers and sellers. The Miami Dolphins, at 1-5, are viewed as clear sellers and could be one of the top teams that sell at this year's trade deadline.
While there have been rumors about De'Von Achane and Jaylen Waddle, neither is likely to be dealt. The same can't be said for two other players who are in trade rumors. Those two are pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Dolphins are receiving a lot of interest and trade calls about both pass rushers. Of the two star pass rushers, Phillips is the much more likely one to be on the move this season.
Dolphins receiving trade interest in Jaelan Phillips
Russini reports that, "The Dolphins are getting lots of calls on pass rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips."
With Miami receiving interest in both Phillips and Chubb, their trade deadline plans are coming into fruition. Moving on from both pass rushers is a possibility for Miami, but Phillips is the much more likely defender to be traded.
Phillips is in the final year of his deal, at a relatively cheap price of less than $13.2 million in cap space. Adding on that Phillips is drawing a lot of interest, a trade of Phillips is much more likely.
Chubb, in comparison, had cap hits north of $30 million in 2026 and 2027. While Chubb might be the better player, his massive contract will make him a much more complicated deal to make.
Phillips, on the other hand, is a rental that is three years younger than Chubb and can be had for less than Chubb as well. Since Phillips ins't signed for more than 2025, the Dolphins won't be able to land more than a day-three pick for him.

Chubb also won't land such a strong return due to his contract and age, but Phillips' much more approachable contract is the reason why he's more likely to be on the move by this season's trade deadline.
In six games this season for Miami, Phillips has one sack and 17 tackles to go with 11 pressures and three quarterback hits. He's not been a huge presence in the pass rush game this season, but his history, 8.5 sacks in his rookie year, then 7.0 and 6.5 in the next two seasons, should give a team reason to take a flier on Phillips this deadline.
He's missed a significant amount of time over the last few years due to injuries, but he's back and healthy this season and is receiving a lot of calls ahead of the trade deadline. Of Miami's trade candidates, Phillips is one to keep an eye on, as the star pass rusher has a decent chance of being moved by the early November trade deadline.
