The Los Angeles Chargers have two glaring needs to address ahead of the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline.
One of those needs is along the offensive line, where the Chargers lost Rashawn Slater for the season and have been missing Joe Alt lately due to a high-ankle sprain.
Los Angeles ranks 28th in pass-block win rate and 22nd in run-block win rate and Justin Herbert has been sacked 18 times, tied for the fifth-most in the league.
The Chargers also have a need at running back, where the team is left with Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins after injuries to Omarion Hampton, who is on injured reserve, and Najee Harris, who is out for the season.
Thankfully, it looks like reinforcements could be on the way. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reports the Chargers are looking for both offensive line and running back help before the deadline.
"The Chargers are exploring running back and offensive line depth," Russini wrote on Saturday.
The good news for the offensive line is that Alt looks to be close to returning after he logged two limited practices this week, although he's listed as doubtful for Week 7, which makes him highly unlikely to play. He could be back in Week 8, though.
At running back, Hampton will be halfway through his minimum-required injured reserve stint of four games after Week 7, so it won't be long before he's back.
If the Chargers are going to make a big splash, it's going to be along the offensive line, where the team could use upgrades at right tackle and on the interior.
We'd expect a smaller move at running back to get Los Angeles through the next few weeks.
