Colorado football midseason MVPs: Three different players make the cut

Colorado football is on a bye making it the perfect time to break down the Buffs at the midpoint. Here are our staff picks for midseason MVP.

The Colorado Buffaloes have to sit back and watch the Week 8 college football slate as they have their first bye week of the season.

It's the perfect time in the season to dive into some midseason roundtable questions about the 2025 Buffs.

Deion Sanders' squad is 3-4 overall with a 1-3 Big 12 record and is coming off its best performance of the season, an upset win over a ranked Iowa State team. It has been far from perfect, but Colorado is seemingly putting it together with five games left to play.

In our first roundtable discussion of the bye week, our Buffaloes Wire staff breaks down our midseason most valuable players.

Here are our MVP picks after seven games.

Griffin's MVP: Punter Damon Greaves

I know it's wild, but no one has really been all that great on offense or defense this season. Greaves is averaging 42.9 yards per punt with a long of 67 and 13 punts inside the 20-yard line.

Jack's MVP: Wide receiver Omarion Miller

Miller is a player who has consistently improved his game and chemistry with the quarterbacks through all the turmoil. He's an engine for the offense, and when he's involved, the Buffaloes win games because he can draw attention and ignite the spark they desperately need.

Charlie's MVP: Safety Tawfiq Byard

Miller would have been my pick, but I wanted to highlight another equally important player. Safety Tawfiq Byard has been a revelation for Colorado's defense. Byard leads the Buffs with 47 total tackles while adding a critical interception against Iowa State, which sealed the victory. He is a solid all-around player against, and most importantly, seems to have stepped into a leadership position that CU was lacking.
