The two teams have played night games in their past three meetings, all won by the Wolverines.
U-M beat MSU, 49-0, the last time they met in East Lansing in 2023, and the Wolverines won in Ann Arbor in 2022 (29-7) and last year (24-17).
Each of those was mired in controversy − the tunnel fight at Michigan Stadium in 2022, allegations of sign stealing by the Wolverines breaking the week of the rivalry game in 2023 and the postgame skirmish between Wolverines and Spartans on the field in 2024.
MSU's last win came in 2021, the epic 37-33 victory for the No. 7-ranked Spartans and Kenneth Walker III over then-No. 6 U-M at Spartan Stadium. That was a noon game, as was MSU’s 27-24 win at Michigan Stadium in the pandemic-shortened, Big Ten-only 2020 season.
The Wolverines lead the all-time series 74-38-5, including a 22-15-2 edge in East Lansing.
