Real Madrid are entering one of the most important weeks of the season. Their journey starts at Getafe, a side known for making games tough and uncomfortable.

With the El Clasico against Barcelona just around the corner and the league lead still up for grabs, every point matters.

On top of that, the Champions League waits, with Juventus set to visit the Santiago Bernabeu. For Xabi Alonso, this week will test his squad’s depth, resilience, and creativity.

The immediate challenge is clear – secure three points against a team that thrives on disrupting opponents.

Getafe are relentless, physical, and highly organised. They make space hard to find and pressure every touch, ensuring that any lapse can be costly.

Alonso knows there’s no margin for error, and his squad must respond at the highest level, particularly with Kylian Mbappe leading the charge in attack.

On that note, let’s take a look at how Real Madrid could lineup against Getafe

Defence

Defensively, Real Madrid will make several adaptations. Thibaut Courtois remains untouchable in goal.

Despite Andriy Lunin being available, Alonso has no reason to change a player who consistently delivers at the highest level.

The backline, however, faces more significant changes. With Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold sidelined, Federico Valverde is expected to cover right-back duties once again, a role he has handled effectively in the past.

Centre-back responsibilities will fall to Eder Militao and Raul Asencio, with Dean Huijsen out due to injury.

On the left, Alvaro Carreras will hold his position, creating a defensive line that combines youth energy and reliable experience.

With Getafe’s intensity and pressing, Real Madrid’s defence will need to stay sharp and coordinated.

Midfield

Real Madrid’s midfield could see a welcome change with Jude Bellingham likely returning to the starting XI.

After starting in just one La Liga match so far, the Englishman looks refreshed and ready to influence the game with his energy, vision, and passing.

Aurelien Tchouameni is expected to start as usual, continuing his consistent performances for Alonso. The third spot in midfield remains open to debate.

Eduardo Camavinga is fit and ready, but Arda Guler’s strong start to the season could keep him in the lineup.

This midfield trio will need to control possession, break up Getafe’s pressing, and provide support to both defence and attack.

Attack

Up front, Real Madrid are likely to stick with the attacking pair that is starting to gel: Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr

Both are fit, in form, and developing a promising understanding. Their speed and creativity will be crucial against a well-drilled Getafe defence.

The third attacker could be Franco Mastantuono, the young Argentine, integrating gradually after returning early from international duty.

His presence adds unpredictability, and his movement is expected to challenge Getafe’s defenders throughout the game.

For Alonso, crafting a new starting XI against Getafe will be his eleventh distinct lineup in La Liga this season.

For that matter, rotations, and tactical planning will play a key role in securing a win.
