Colorado football midseason disappointments: Several players continue to underwhelm

Colorado football has had its ups and downs, and many Buffs have not performed up to expectations. Here are three who need a strong finish.

The Colorado Buffaloes have to sit back and watch the Week 8 college football slate as they have their first bye week of the season.

It's the perfect time in the season to dive into some midseason roundtable questions about the 2025 Buffs.

Deion Sanders' squad is 3-4 overall with a 1-3 Big 12 record and is coming off its best performance of the season, an upset win over a ranked Iowa State team. It has been far from perfect, but Colorado is seemingly putting it together with five games left to play.

We already picked our midseason most valuable players and surprises. Now we move on to the most disappointing Colorado players through the first seven games.

Griffin's most disappointing player: The running backs

This was supposed to be the year Colorado finally ran the ball well, and they've had some success, but it's been a frustrating first half of the season so far with the best offensive line they've had in the Deion Sanders era.

Jack's most disappointing player: QB Kaidon Salter

I was so high on Colorado entering the season, primarily because I envisioned Salter thriving in the offense. Although he looked the part against Iowa State in the Buffaloes' upset, he was a maddening quarterback to watch through the first six games, with inaccurate passes and bad turnovers. I'm glad he's been able to turn it around recently, but I can't forget the first half of the season.

Charlie's most disappointing player: DB Preston Hodge

This might seem like an under-the-radar pick, but Colorado's No. 2 cornerback has played the second-most snaps on defense and, truthfully, has not had a great season. Hodge has five penalties called against him, and several of them have been monumental pass interference calls that kept opponent drives alive. He is the Buffs' starting nickel cornerback and will need to raise his level of play over the final five games.
