A former Vol is named as a MLB possible breakout player with the Giants in 2026.
The 2025 World Series will be contested Oct. 24-Nov. 1. The Dodgers will represent the National League and will play the series winner between Seattle and Toronto.
Following the World Series, the next MLB season will begin with San Francisco hosting the Yankees on March 25, 2026 at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California.
On Oct. 15, Maria Guardado of MLB.com highlighted future prospects on the radar and possible breakout players for the Giants, including two former Vols.
Former Tennessee pitcher Blade Tidwell, catcher Jesus Rodriguez and outfielder Bo Davidson were named as three players who put themselves on the radar this year.
Former Tennessee outfielder Drew Gilbert and Tidwell were traded from the Mets to San Francisco for right-handed pitcher Tyler Rogers on July 30. Tidwell made his MLB debut on May 4 with New York.
Former Vol infielder Gavin Kilen was also listed as a possible breakout player to watch in 2026, along with shortstop Josuar Gonzalez.
"Kilen is known as a contact-oriented hitter - a skill that is highly valued by Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey," Guardado said.
Kilen was selected by the Giants during the first round (No. 13 overall) in the 2025 MLB draft.
