Adnan Beganovic reveals why TS Galaxy signed goalkeeper Kayode Bankole!
In the wake of a narrow 2-1 defeat to Magesi FC, TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic shed light on the strategic thinking behind the club's latest acquisition: Nigerian goalkeeper Kayode Bankole. The 23-year-old, unveiled on October 17th after arriving on a free transfer, represents the Rockets' 16th signing of the season, a move designed not just to fill a spot, but to ignite a crucial internal competition.
Beganovic revealed that Bankole has already been integrating with the Mpumalanga-based squad for over a month. The signing, he explained, is a deliberate strategy to foster intensity and drive improvement. “You know, he has been with us for about one and a half months. We tried to find a second goalkeeper who can compete with the first goalkeeper,” Beganovic stated, outlining his core philosophy.
He elaborated further, emphasizing that comfort is the enemy of progress in his squad. “We always try to have similar players in the same position so that they can compete for that position. I don’t like it when I only have one player in a position who can relax. In a training session, I want to create a competition."
For Beganovic, this rivalry is the engine of quality. “So, I think with that, we can only improve and push ourselves more, so we can have quality. If he trains and thinks like that and puts in the hard work, I think he is behind us.”
This new injection of competition comes as Galaxy look to build momentum from their current mid-table position of eighth in the Betway Premiership, having collected 13 points from their first nine outings. The message from the coach is clear: every position is up for grabs, and performance is the only currency that matters.
